June 26, 2018
To our Valued Senvoy Customers,
The Summer of Construction 2018 is upon us. You have probably been hearing about the various projects happening around the Portland Metro Area? As your courier service, we have been gearing up to do everything we can to minimize impact to our order transport times.
However, we want to be very realistic. Some of the projects this summer will have a major timing impact with no alternate routes we can steer the drivers towards. We anticipate major delays with orders moving to/from the West side and East side, and I-205 corridor to/from Vancouver.
The project that is most concerning will be the I-84 / I-5 Interchange Resurfacing Project which will close the interchanges for 7 – 10 days each direction, and will drop I-84 westbound to one lane from Lloyd Center to I-5. Experience tells us, this will back up inbound traffic all the way to 205, if not beyond. Our drivers will be instructed to stay off of I-84 entirely, but we anticipate the surface alternates will also be backed up, along with I-205 itself.
With this in mind, we want to alert everyone to the following anticipated possibilities:Additionally, we will spend the first two weeks of closures assessing the actual impact to the On Demand drivers’ daily order volume. We have to assume that the traffic may limit the actual number of orders a driver can move each day. As you’re probably aware, the On Demand drivers are paid commission based on the price of each order, so they have to hit a certain volume to be profitable. In order to maintain the driving team, we have to make sure they are earning enough to weather this period. With that in mind, once we assess impact, we may find that we will need to add a temporary surcharge on orders to cover the additional travel time and lower volume of orders that can be moved per driver.
We appreciate your patience while we assess the full impact and potential costs.
Below, you will find a full listing of the construction plans, along with links to ODOT details and additional media impact coverage. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or concerns.
Looking forward to the Fall,

OHSU Aerial Tram Closure 2018
https://www.oregonlive.com/expo/news/erry-2018/06/308d87d4e46980/portland_tram_to_close_for_5_w.html
Project Dates: June 23 – July 30 – Complete closure
While our drivers do not, of course, ride the Tram, it ferries nearly 10,000 riders a day. Consequently, if an abundance of those riders begin driving, this will create additional traffic on the roadways up to the hospital. We would expect an impact of 10 – 15 minutes added to trips to and from the campus.
I-205 Paving – I-5 to Abernethy Bridge West Linn
http://i205construction.org/i5toabernethybridge
Project Hours: After 8:00 pm, wrapped by 8:00 am most days
Scheduled completion: Fall 2018
This project will have minimal impact on day time services and we will reroute night time line haul trucks to avoid this path.
